Exuma Vacation Cottages
peace and tranquility in a tropical setting
The islands of Great Exuma and Little Exuma are located in the Central Bahamas and extend North West / South East for a distance of 40 miles.  The main town is George Town located halfway along the main "Queens Highway".
Hartswell is a 15 minutes drive South East from George Town and close to the bridge joining the two islands.
The Cottages are off the main road and the property extends down to Moriah Harbour and the offshore Moriah Cay.
Moriah Cay is a marine sanctuary, and a deserted, unspoilt island with miles of soft sand deserted beaches, lakes,  and mangroves and is a nursery for small fish and turtles.
Let me tell you about some of the activities you can enjoy while you are here.

Perfecting the art of doing nothing !
Maybe your first though is to lay by the heated pool and unwind in this quiet tranquil setting. Enjoy a Kalik, the local beer, or sip on a Bahama Mama; and enjoy a good book. Don't forget the sunscreen.
When you wish to stretch your legs, take a stroll down to the dock and admire the color of the water.
While your at the waters edge you may see some enthusiastic fishermen fly fishing in the shallows catching bonefish. Or you may be lucky and see one of our Ospreys fishing to feed its young.
So now you are ready to explore.  Well your options include:-
Scuba Diving
Exuma has a wealth of locations for scuba diving. When the waves lay down the Atlantic Ocean offers unlimited options for exploring the coral reefs.
Alternatively try inside Elizabeth Harbour and the outlying islands where sting rays, turtles, baracuda and spiny lobster abound.
Exuma is famous for "blue Holes". Vertical caves that can go for miles, but only go with an experienced instructor, such as Garvin from
Exuma Scuba
Bone Fishing
Exuma is world renowned as a prime spot to fish for Bonefish. These relatively small fish live in shallow waters and Moriah Harbour, where Val's cottages are located, is one of the most popular fishing grounds.
If you want to try your luck Valerie can make the arrangements.
Offshore Fishing
If you want to catch Wahoo, Tuna, Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi) or even a swordfish, then Doug Rowe is your man.
Charter Doug and his Hatteras to take you and get strapped into the fighting chair for the tussle of a lifetime.
If they are not biting then drop a line to the deep and find yourself a grouper. Boy are they good eating! Check out www.fishrowecharters.com
Kiteboarding
Boat Rentals
No vacation in Exuma would be complete without exploring Elizabeth Harbour. The simplest way is to rent a 17ft Boston Whaler from Minns Water Sports. Rentals can be either half day, full day or an entire week.
Now you can laze on a deserted beach, go snorkeling, or visit the offshore restaurants.

One highlight of your vacation could be a boat trip through the islands (or Cays as they are called) aboard a 20+ passenger covered fast boat. See some of the private islands bought by the stars and stop at powered white sand beaches. Swim with nurse sharks and snorkel Thunderball Cave featured in the James Bond film "Dr No".
